Angel mancebo for Montefrio

On Sunday, May 26, the blessed image of the Virgen de los Remedios, patron saint of Montefrio, will procession, as it traditionally does to commemorate the miraculous intercession of the venerated image; it was on May 29, 1766, feast of Corpus Christi, hundreds of faithful came to the Church of the Villa to hear mass, when suddenly a great storm formed. In the midst of a giant roar, a huge lightning bolt struck the church, breaking the stained glass windows of the temple and causing a large stone to break off from the vault, leaving a large hole, and falling right on top of the faithful.

For this May 2024, the sculptor Juan Alberto Perez Rojas has made a mancebo angel to carry the baton of honorary and perpetual mayoress of the town of Granada. For more information, click here
